Program Descriptions (see drop-down menus for additional descriptions)

North Andover Little League offers programs for players of all ages and abilities during three seasons: spring, summer, and fall.  Below is a general description of each season. Hover over the "Programs" tab at the top of the page to read more specific descriptions of the programs offered during each season.

Spring Season

The spring season marks the start of the baseball year and is our most popular season. Weather permitting, of course, we strive to begin the spring baseball season on or about April 1.

In the Instructional Divisions (U10), the first month or more of the spring season is spent practicing or in group clinics designed to work on baseball skills and fundamentals. Generally, each team will have two events per week, one on a weekday and a second event on a weekend day. Starting in May, regular season games will begin, one per week for the younger divisions (T-Ball and Instructional League) and two per week for the A and AA Divisions. T-Ball and Instructional League will continue to practice once per week, and A/AA Divisions may hold a weekly practice in addition to games, at the coach's discretion. Spring Instructional Division play wraps up by the end of the school year.

The Little League Divisions (AAA and Majors) will have group practices in the first week of April, a player draft in the second week of April, and begin regular season game play toward the end of April Vacation until the end of May. After taking a break for Memorial Day, AAA and Majors playoffs begin in early June and will be completed by June 20th.

Teams will be picked for the Big Diamond Divisions (Juniors, Seniors, and Big League) in early April, and game play will begin in mid-April until early June.

Summer Season

The summer baseball season begins on or around June 15th and features several options for players of all abilities. Generally, summer baseball is over by the first week in August.

For players in Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade during the spring, our summer program meets twice per week for 90 minutes.  In recent years the program has been held on Tuesday and Thursday nights.  This program runs from the week after July 4th until mid-August.

For 2nd through 7th graders (playing on the small diamond), we will participate in the Merrimack Valley Small Diamond League (MVSDL). The MVSDL runs from mid-June until early August and typically involves a commitment of two days per week for games or practices. The MVSDL is an intertown travel league, with games played against teams from Andover, Billerica, Lawrence, Dracut, Methuen, and other nearby communities. In 2016, we expect to enter two 7/8-year old, two 9/10-year old, and two 11/12-year old teams into the MVSDL, which will be made up of 2nd through 7th graders from the North Andover Youth Baseball program.

4th through 7th graders (birth dates 5/1/2003 to 8/31/2007) are eligible for selection onto one of the teams that compete in the Little League District 14 Tournament (click here for more information on the District Tournament). North Andover enters two 10-year old, two 11-year old, and two 12-year old District teams into this tournament. There will be one team from each age group selected from the pool of American League players and one team from each age group selected from the pool of National League players. The District teams begin practice on or about June 15th and begin district play at the end of June or in early July. The District tournament ends in mid July, and teams that win the District Tournament advance to a Sectional Tournament, which can last into August. In addition to the District 14 Tournament, District teams will be entered into the Bay State Baseball Tournament of Champions, which typically runs from late June until late July.

Fall Season

The falls season begins after Labor Day and extends into mid October, weather permitting. The fall program meets once during the week and once on Saturday morning. The focus of the program is skill development and group practices, with teams broken out by ability to facilitate competitive intra-town scrimmage games.
